Public Reading: "40 Ounces of Sand" by Obie Award winner Caridad Svich
As part of Project Y Theatre's "PARITY PLAYS: 50% (or More!) Women in Casting" reading series, I am playing the ghost of a murdered diplomat in "40 Ounces of Sand" by Caridad Svich, directed by Aimee Todoroff. The play delves into a story of what we will do in the name of and for progress and creates an intimate poetic drama about ethics and citizenship.
Caridad Svich is a playwright-lyricist-translator who was profiled in the July/August 2009 issue of American Theatre magazine. She’s received, among others, the 2012 OBIE for Lifetime Achievement, 2012 Edgerton Foundation New Play Award, 2011 ATCA Primus Prize, and the National Latino Playwriting Award twice in her career.
The free reading will be in the Bruce Mitchell Room in ART/NY (520 8th avenue, 3rd floor) on MONDAY, November 30th at 7:30pm.
